“Not much to say about the drawstring itself, which is the same high quality as that which comes with the shorts. The fact that the drawstring is offered for separate sale, however, speaks to the company’s predicable attention to every detail.”

How to rethread drawstrings for gym shorts
Re-threading our drawstrings is much easier that with the cheap drawstrings you’re used to getting! It can be done without coat hangers and other contrived methods. Just feel inside for the metal tip, and push it in with one hand while squishing up that section of the shorts. Then hold onto the tip with your other hand (giggity) while you pull that section of the shorts back in the opposite direction with the other. We won’t lie it takes some patience going a little section at a time, but it can be easily accomplished in 5-7 minutes (yep we had some races here in the office).
Drawstring Size Chart
The following are the approximate sizes of our replacement drawstrings when unstretched – they stretch a bit longer than this when worn. Check back now and then, as we will be changing and adding colors, as well as different lengths according to the various feedback we receive from our customers.
- Small – about 60 in.
- Medium – about 65 in.
- Large – about 70 in.
- XL – about 80 in.
Need longer or shorter than these, or from what we have in stock?
To shorten any drawstring, cut a section out of the middle of it as needed, then tie the outside pieces together extremely tight. Next, trim the edges around the knot and then take a lighter or match to GENTLY VERY CAREFULLY melt/singe the edges of the material around the knot so that it won’t fray or come undone. Then thread back through the shorts. As long as your knot is very tight, it will push through one of the metal eyelets to allow threading! You can also skip the melting step as long as your knot is very tight.
To make a drawstring larger than what we have in stock take TWO smaller ones, then cut them as needed for length and follow the above instructions to merge two of the pieces together so that it has a metal tip on each end.
